Neighborhood Watch Sign

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that uses citizens, in cooperation with Community Oriented Policing Bureau (COPB), to reduce crime in their communities. It involves neighbors getting to know each other, taking the time to watch out for each other, and working together in a program of mutual assistance. Neighborhood Watch is an effective means of reducing residential burglaries.

Residents can reach out to these officers directly via their cell phones.  Visit the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) Website Staff Directory at https://www.shreveportla.gov/Directory.aspx?did=72 to meet your District Officer and establish a Neighborhood Watch.

You can also call the COPB office at 318-673-6950.

Benefits of the Neighborhood Watch Program

By participating in Neighborhood Watch, the homeowner will learn:
  • Effective crime prevention techniques for home safety and security
  • How to become law enforcement's eyes and ears and help them provide security to residential areas
  • How to report a crime:
    • How to describe an intruder
    • Vehicle or activity
    • What additional information to give
    • What to look for

Through regular engagement and problem-solving initiatives,  SPD and COPB aim to enhance public safety and improve the quality of life for the communities they serve.
